It is the exam for the DLD Real Estate Broker practice card. “RERA exam” is the common name. The DLD states that no one may practise a licensed activity before registering and obtaining the card. Its service page for issuing a practice card lists its fees and exemptions.

What is the difference between the DLD and RERA?

The DLD is the Dubai Land Department, which registers real property rights. RERA is the Real Estate Regulatory Agency. Under Law No. 4 of 2019, RERA licenses real property activities, registers practitioners and issues their cards.

Who is exempt from the exam?

The DLD lists three groups: applicants over 55 years of age, brokers with 5 consecutive years of service in the same real estate office, and holders of a start-up licence.

What else do I need besides the exam?

A good conduct certificate from Dubai Police, and a card whose validity is linked to the trade licence. The DLD training page lists training sessions, which are conducted in English only.
